United Church of Christ

The United Church of Christ is a fairly new denomination in America, founded in 1957 by a merger of the Congregational Christian Church and the Evangelical and Reformed Church. Although their worship style, as well as their wedding ceremonies, may vary slightly from church to church, the wedding vows themselves usually lean toward the traditional.

Here is one of their generally accepted vows:

"I, _______________, take you, ________________, to be my husband / wife, and I promise to love and sustain you in the bonds of marriage from this day forward, in sickness and in health, in plenty and in want, in joy and in sorrow, till death shall part us, according to God's holy ordinance."
